Abstract

545,470. Coating with metals. PILKINGTON BROS., Ltd., WALDRON, F. B.. and GRIFFIN, J. H. Nov. 27, 1940, No. 16994. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIII] The edges of a glass strip may be metallized by the attachment of a wire at intervals while the glass is plastic, a ribbon of foil may be attached by adhesive, metal such as aluminium may be sprayed on, or the edges may be coated with graphite or be silvered and then covered with electrodeposited copper. Silvering solution may be supplied at 41, Fig. 7, to a trough 35 with a low side supporting and sealed by the glass at 37. Overflow is taken care of at 42. The trough 35 is followed by a bath 36 with a copper anode 38, circuit being completed by brushes on the leads 39.
