Abstract

545,377. Calorimeters. COOK, C. W. Aug. 27, 1941, No. 10929. [Class 97 (iii)] A fuel calorimeter comprises a bomb or combustion chamber 1 arranged inside a water container 2 of fused silica, glass &c. within which a mixer comprising curved paddles 23 mounted on rods 27 connected at the bottom by arms 22 and carried at the top by a frame 20 mounted on a pivot pin 17. The water container 2 is enclosed by an outer heat insulating container 3 comprising a base 4 to ribs on which inner and outer walls 6, 7 are secured, the interwall space being occupied by cork &c. and covered by an annular cover 13 which supports a cover 14 for the interior of the container. A cork disc 9 is provided to support the water container 2, spacing rings 10, 11 being provided. The frame 20 of the water mixer is oscillated by gearing from a motor 26 mounted on the cover 14.
