Abstract
544,839. Electro-plating baths. MOND NICKEL CO., Ltd. July 15, 1941, No. 8947. Convention date, July 15, 1940. [Class 41] An electro-plating bath is divided into anode and cathode compartments by one or more partitions 5, 6, each comprising a framework mounted to slide into position in holders 7 and carrying sheets 16 of material such as porous rubber or woven glass, pervious to the electrolyte but impervious to solid matter such as particles becoming detached from 'the soluble anodes 44 or coagulated particles of organic " brighteners," the space between the sheets 16 being filled with filtering material such as mineral wool or asbestos. The anode compartments 2, 4 are extended downwardly to form sludge sumps 19, 20 provided with outlets 17, 18 through which the electrolyte may be withdrawn for filtration. The plate anodes 44 may be replaced by anode holders such as that shown in Fig. 5 and consisting of frame members 53, 60, covered with gauze 64. Small particles of anode material are placed in the false bottom portion below the gauze cover 65 and larger pieces in the body of the holder. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes several other forms of holders for soluble anode material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
