Abstract

Wetting agents such as sulphated octyl or lauryl alcohol are added to nickel-plating baths in amount sufficient to reduce the surface tension to 50 dynes per cm. or below.ALSO:Nickel alloys containing from a trace up to several per cent of selenium or tellurium are deposited by electrolysis from baths containing compounds of these substances as brightening agents. The proportion of the additions to the deposit may be reduced by addition in the bath of a sulphonated organic compound; the deposits may then contain up to 0,1 per cent or more of sulphur.
