544,567. Riveting tools. CHICAGO PNEUMATIC TOOL CO. Feb. 4, 1941, No. 1466. Convention date, March 9, 1940. [Class 124] In a riveting tool including a hammer piston 14 reciprocable within a cylinder 11, an attachment for transmitting the impacts delivered by said piston along a line extending obliquely to its line of movement comprises a curved tubular extension 21 detachable from said cylinder and having an outer end which is brought into engagement with the work by an axial movement of the cylinder and containing a train of impact-transmitting elements 32, 33 which terminate rearwardly in an anvil block 31 which is limited in its rearward movement by the cylinder which thereby absorbs the reaction of the blows delivered to the rivet, the extension 21 being rotatable and longitudinally adjustable relative to the anvil block and cylinder. An enlarged rearward portion 21a of the extension 21 is screwed on to the front end of the cylinder and is split at 23 and locked in the desired position by a clamp 25. The elements 32, 33 have barrel-shaped peripheries and and convex ends.
