[Class 124.] Feed motions.-The tool A is fed forwardly by the blow caused by the piston striking the drill, but recoil is prevented by the members P gripping the rod L through the action of the conical surfaces r. For forward motion the members P, q are kept in contact by the spring 4 acting on the block k. To effect withdrawal, reversal of the eccentric 8 causes spring 3 to move the block k to the right and bring the conical surfaces r, g of members p, P into contact.
