Percussive tools.- In a percussive tool having an axially-moving anvil block 6 provided with oblique faces which co-operate with corresponding faces on the striker 4, the block is locked if it goes too far forward as on an idle blow, by engaging a spring ring 18 bv means of a catch groove 30. The block is mounted by means of balls 9, 10 running on a sleeve 12 and the forward part 16 of the block is tapered to aid in distending the ring 18.
