Abstract

433,708. Percussive drills. HENSCHEL & SOHN AKT.-GES., 2, Henschelstrasse, Cassel, Germany. Feb. 14, 1934, Nos. 4949, 4950, and 4951. Convention dates, Feb. 20, 1933, May 13, 1933, and July 31, 1933. [Class 124] [See also Group XXII] A percussive tool 1 has a muff 3 secured to its front end which encloses a tool 5 used for expanding tube ends. To withdraw the tool 5 from the work the percussive tool 1 is pulled in that direction, thus bringing the collar 9 of the tool against the outer face of the muff. The reciprocating piston strikes the anvil plate 2 producing blows to withdraw the tool. The throttle valve 12 has two springs 19, 20 the first of which acts against the normal travel of the valve, the second part acting against the valve when it is pressed further to open the channel 18 supplying extra air for the return blows. A handle 24 is pivotally attached to the front end of the tool body. The expanding punch has a conical shoulder b c, the angle of which is steep enough to expand the tube end temporarily and so loosen the part a.
