With these arid other objects in view as may appear from theaccompanying specification, the invention consists of various features of construction and combination of parts,' which will be first described in connection with the accom- "panying drawings, showing a pile driving atform embodying the invention, andthe features' tachment for percussiv tools of thenpreferred forming theinvention will be sp'eciiic'zally' point-I ed out in the claims.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, a percussive tool of any approved type embodying a cylinder 1 in which the piston 2 reciprocates, 'is shown in fragment in Fig. 1 of the drawings. 'The cylinder l vhas a front head 3 attached `thereto by means of bolts 4in the usual manner 'and a front head bushing 5 is provided which serves as a guide for the stem 6 of the anvil block or pile striking member 7.
The front head 3 has extensions 8 and 9 formed thereon which project outwardly from the front head .and are spaced one from the other to receive a pile indicated at (A) in dotv andl dashlines, and between.
In operation, the piston 2 is reeiprocated by r duid, under pressure in the usual manner of permissive tools and this hammer piston tool striking the anvil block or pile striking member '7 imparts blows to the pile (A) for driving it.
Piles of diiierent widths or thicknesses are frefluently driven, and to provide for the proper guiding and steadying of such piles during the driving operation, cheek plates 9a and 10 are Aprovided which slide in suitable guide recesses 11 formed in the extensions 8 and 9. The cheek plates 9a and 10 are adjusted to vary the distancebetween their facing sides, to accom? mjodate different widths or thicknesses of piles (A) by means of adjusting screws 12.v The advjusting screws 12 are threaded into the cheek plates 9a and 10 and are rotatably mounted in the extensions 8 and 9. Collars 13 are formed on the adjusting screws 12 and areengaged by clamping nuts 14 forpreve'nting longitudinal movement yof the" adjusting vscrews A12. The clamp nuts 14 are of suicient size to permit` the withdrawal of the adjusting screws 12 from fthe front head extensions 8 and 9.'
Stop shoulders 15T are formed on the inner sides oi theiront head extensions 8 and 9 and limit the forward or outward movement of anvil loloclg:v or pile strikingmeinber 7. Referring specifically to the modified form, the front head extensions 8 and 9 have stops 15 formed thereon which limit the movement of the anvil block 7' in the same manner in which the stops 15 limit the movement of the anvil'block '7. The extensions 8 and 9' are attached to the cylinder (not shown) in any suit- -able manner and they have laterally extending bores formed therein which receive the stems 21 of the adjustable cheek plates 22 and 23. The cheek plates 22 and 23 are adjusted to regulate the distance between their facing surfaces by means of adjusting screws 12' which thread into the adjistable cheek plates and rotate in the extensions 8' and 9. The adjusting screws 12' are held against longitudinal movement in the front head extensions 8 and 9 by anges or collars 13' and clamping nuts 14', while the adjustable cheek plates 22 and 23 are held against rotation relative to the front head extensions by means of any suitable type of keys 24 which engage in suitable keyways 25.
