Abstract
544,320. Power hammers. GRIFFITHS (WILLENHALL), Ltd., S., and GRIFFITHS, H. S. Jan. 10, 1941, No. 404. [Class 83 (iv)] Anvil blocks for drop and steam hammers &c. comprise top and bottom plates A, C of mild steel welded to a central billet B of carbon steel from which radiate a number of mild steel plates D also welded to the top and bottom plates. When the block is positioned in the foundation the grouting may be brought up over the base plate and part way up the radial plates entering the spaces between. The top plate may be loose and secured in position by bolts passing through holes in the base plate or in intermediate shelves Fig. 4 welded to the radial plates and to the billet B. The bolts are anchored by cotters h, and lugs G locate the top plate.
