Abstract

542,645. Rubber compositions. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., TWISS, D. F., JONES, F. A., and AMPHLETT, P. H. June 19, 1940, No. 10572. [Class 70] Organic compounds containing a C:O group and a sulphur atom attached to a carbon atom other than that of the C:O to form a thioalcohol group or the corresponding disulphides derivable therefrom by oxidation are used as plasticizers for natural or synthetic rubber or latex. Compounds include thioglycollic acid, thiolbutyric acid, thiosalicylic acid or the corresponding esters, aldehydes or amides, ketones or disulphides. Acidic substances, such as benzoic, or stearic acid may also be added.
