Abstract
542,147. Valve circuits for wireless reception. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and MONTGOMERY, W. A. June 25, 1940, No. 10860. [Class 40 (v)] In a super-regenerative receiver the quench frequency is made sufficiently low for the detector oscillation to build up to saturation value so that the detector has a logarithmic characteristic and the following low frequency amplifier has an exponential characteristic so as to compensate for the distortion. The Figure shows a triode detector V1 resistance capacity coupled to an amplifier V2 the grid bias of which is critically adjusted by potentiometer R5, R6, R7. The Specification gives a mathematical analysis to show that harmonic distortion is eliminated and that a small amount of amplitude distortion of the nature of volume expansion remains which is negligible for modulation below 70 per cent.
