Abstract
541,979. Hydraulic jacks. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. July 17, 1940, No. 11803. Convention date, Dec. 8, 1939. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXI] In tractors having fluid pressure operated means for lifting implements carried by the tractor, the cylinder and piston part of this means is arranged to function also for operating a jack. The normal position of the cylinder and piston is shown in broken lines in Fig. 1, the piston-rod entering a sleeve 26 on a fixed bracket 21 and the head of the cylinder being detachably connected to a swinging link 20 and coupled by a rod 23 to a rock shaft 22. The jack is made up of a double-sided angled upright 29, 40, 30 hinged at 39 to a horizontal lever 28 pivoted at 33 to a foot 34. The flexible fluid conveying pipe 6 allows the cylinder head, when detached from the link 20, to be pivotally bolted to the top part 30 of the jack upright, and the piston-rod end 19 to nest into a dish formed at the outer end of lever 28. A bracket 38 adjustably mounted on the vertical part 40 of the upright takes under the back axle casing 12 to lift the vehicle.
