Abstract
541,899. Rubber transformation products. ALBERT PRODUCTS, Ltd., and MARTIN, S. R. W. June 15, 1940, No. 10430. [Class 70] Resinous rubber transformation products are made by heating vulcanized or unvulcanized rubber with one or more phenols and one or more acid anhydrides and (or) one or more phenyl compounds obtained by the reaction of such a phenol with such an anhydride, with or without one or more acids. The phenol is present in amount equal to or greater than that of the rubber. Thus cresols, p-chlorophenol, salicylic acid, or p-tertiary butyl phenol along with phosphorus pentoxide, boron trioxide or sulphuric anhydride, or phenyl borates or mono- or di-phenyl phosphates may be used. The products may be used as adhesives or added to oils or lacquers or combined with natural or artificial resins, especially alkyd resins, halogenrubber, bituminia, pitches, waxes, cellulose derivatives, fillers, dyestuffs, lubricants, plasticizers &c. Specification 498,311 is referred to.
