541,200. Valves. LIQUID CARBONIC CO., Ltd. (Kantor, J.). Jan. 26, 1940, No. 9204/41. Divided out of 540,762. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 17, 1940.] [Class 135] [Also in Group XVII]] Containers supported on reciprocal platforms 4, Fig. 1, are filled through filler valves 3 with beer, carbonated syrups &c. from a tank 1 under the influence of counter-pressure applied at the exit from the filler tube so as to counterbalance some of the filling- pressure due to the level of liquid in the tank 1. These counter-pressures are established in cylinders 47, 38, 42 in a "water check tank" 2 which are connected in the order named to each of a series of pipes 37, each of which connects with a filler valve 3. In order to effect the appropriate timing, tanks 1 and 2 rotate about the verticle axis of tank 2, the head 33 rotating with tank 2 and having an annular " valve face " on its inner side, ports in which admit pressure air or carbonic acid gas from cylinder 47 through a valve 70, from cylinder 38 directly and from cylinder 42 through a valve 85, the valves and cylinders 42, 47 being stationary inasmuch as they are carried by fixed air-inlet tubes. Tank valve is constructed as in Fig. 6, a cylinder 71 carrying a spring- pressed piston 72 with a valve facing 78 on its upper surface. The sequence of pressures may be varied and a shifting valve connecting the filling valve with the atmosphere may be provided.
