541,188. Moulding balls of minced meat; food preparations. LEVER BROS. & UNILEVER, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Hartog's Fabrieken). June 13, 1940, No. 10311. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] A bar of minced meat is divided into portions of the desired weight and passed between two rotating rollers 1, 2 having uninterrupted peripheral grooves registering with each other and forming moulding apertures. The meat may be rolled a second time by means of a third similar roller 3 registering with the other two. The bar of minced meat may be divided before being fed to the rollers, as by a series of knives arranged in front of the rollers, or may be fed as a bar to the rollers, the edges of the grooves dividing the bar ; in this latter case the bar may be extruded on to a travelling surface which is tilted to discharge the bar into the nip of the rollers. The shape of the balls thus made may be fixed by immersing them in a bath of hot water or hot oil or fat.
