Abstract

541,157. Hypodermic syringes. EVERETT, S. J. June 1, 1940, No. 9623. [Class 81 (ii)] A hypodermic syringe comprises a barrel the front end of which is closed by a removable closure member held in place by a frame which bears resiliently on the closure member, the parts being so constructed and arranged that the pressure of the frame is transmitted axially to cause the closure member or a member interposed between it and the barrel to bear evenly on the rim of the barrel. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the front member 2 comprising the nozzle 4 is secured against the barrel 1 and an interposed glass disc 3 by screwed rods 8 connecting a resilient perforated disc 7 and a rear closure disc 14 through slots 16, 17 in which the securing nuts 10 are passed. In the modification shown in Fig. 5 the rods 8a are secured directly to the member 7a which is axially reduced at the rear of the attachment points.
