Abstract

540,510. Electric heater for removing thermoplastic coatings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., TWISS, D. F., and JONES, F. A. July 18, 1940, No. 11856. [Class 39 (iii)] A device for removing adherent thermo-plastic coatings from surfaces comprises a flat blade 1, with upturned sides 3, electrical heating means 4 positioned on the blade adjacent its leading edge 2, a handle 11 and electrical leads 9. The heater 4 is preferably positioned between mica sheets 6, which are clamped to the blade 1 by a metal plate 7 with a curved forward edge 12 by which the removed strip of coating material is deflected upwards.
