Abstract
407,184. Retractive switches. NATIONAL PNEUMATIC CO., 420,Lexing- ton Avenue, New York, U.S.A. Feb. 24, 1933, No. 5736. Convention date, May 21, 1932. [Class 38 (v).] An electric treadle or mat switch for use in actuating a burglar alarm or controlling a vehicle or other door comprises two sheets of rubber 3, 4 spaced apart round the edges by rubber strips 1 and having therebetween an upper and lower series of parallel metal contact strips 11, 12 normally held apart by parallel strips 9 of sponge rubber extending at right angles to the metal strips. Ridges 10 are formed on the sheets 3, 4 between the strips 9. Cables 14, 15 are connected to metal strips 16 at the ends of the metal contact strips, apertures 17 being provided in the strips 16 so that all the rubber parts of the mat may be vulcanized together. Projections 5 are moulded on the surface of sheet 3 to prevent slipping. The edge of the mat may be formed over at right angles and reinforced by an angle plate.
