Abstract

623,310. Signs. JONES. J. E., and WORTH, H. W. April:29, 1947, No. 11386. [Class 3(ii)] An illuminated door sign has a switch for a bell or the like, both switches being operated by a push-button, one by rotating it and the other by depressing it. A base plate 1, Figs. 1 and 2, carries a clip 9 for an electric bulb 13, the mounting bolt 7 for the clip also forming a terminal. A spring contact 10 is held by a terminal 8 so that it can meet the centre contact 14 of the bulb 13 when it is deflected by rotation of a pushbutton 15. A spring contact 11 is mounted by means of a terminal 6 so that when moved by pressing the push-button 15 it makes with the contact 10. The bell-push is a loose rotary fit in a hole on a coverplate 2 and has two cam faces 18, either of which, when the push is rotated, forces the contact spring 10 against the contact 14 on the lamp. The bell-pusher is attached to the spring 11 and is prevented from protruding too far through the cover 2 by a collar. The cover 2 is attached to the back plate by lugs 3 and has an aperture behind which stencil plates 19 are mounted. These are backed by a non-opaque backing sheet 20 held in position by spring clips 21. The electric supply is connected to terminals 7, 8 and the bell to terminal 6 and a terminal 5 wired to terminal 7. Fixing holes 3 are provided in the base and a window 23 in the bottom of the cover to illuminate a letter-box. The push-button 15 may be translucent so that it is illuminated by the lamp 13. Instead of stencil plates, translucent paper sandwiched between the backing sheet 20 and a front transparent sheet may be used. They are held in position by blocks instead of springs and the cover may be attached by screws and claws.
