Abstract
539,955. Typewriters &c. ROYAL TYPEWRITER CO., Inc. April 16, 1940, No. 6862. Convention date, May 5, 1939. [Class 100 (iv)] In a key comprising a character-disc in surface contact with a transparent coverdisc, relative movement of the discs and consequent smudging of the character is prevented by providing one of the discs with integral projections which extend into the other disc. The key shown in Fig. 2 comprises a cup B containing a dished washer C, a cardboard character-disc D, and a transparent cover-disc E having a recess engaging a rim 4 on a cap F. The cover-disc is now formed with a sharp, continuous or mutilated rib 8 which is forced into the characterdisc. The rib may be replaced by conical or radial projections. The cover-disc may be made from methyl methacrylate plastic material. Specification 534,976 is referred to.
