Abstract

539,746. Dividing engines. MARLEY, W. H. March 18, 1940, No. 5004. [Class 97 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A dividing head comprises a base 1 having a circular wall 2, a rack plate 12 rotatable within said wall and having a number of equally spaced recesses 12a, a dial plate 13 located on said wall and rotatable with the rack plate, locking screws 3 in the base co-operating with a split ring 15 having a bevelled surface 15a co-acting with a bevelled face 12b of the rack plate 12, a plunger 6 in the base normally urged as by spring 7 into engagement with a registering recess 12a in the rack plate 12, means, suth as a rack and pinion mechanism, for releasing the plunger from said recess, lines a marked on the dial plate 13, one for each recess 12a in the rack plate, and numbers adjacent the lines, and a pointer 16 on the base co-acting with the markings on the dial plate 13. Further divisions b may also be marked on the dial plate 13.
