Abstract
539,396. Luminescent materials. HOLUB, C. Z. March 5, 1940, No. 4105. [Class 39 (i)] A fluorescent pigment comprises a fluorescent material and sodium salicylate. A base mixture consists of 35 parts by weight of boric acid, 25 of sodium salicylate and 40 of kaolin. with this is mixed one or more from any of the following (i) diphenylmethane derivatives e.g. uramines and pyronines. (ii) triphenylmethane derivatives, e.g. fluorescein its halogen derivatives, the rhodamines and some derivatives of rosaniline (fuschsine-green violet or red). (iii) derivatives of the thio-compounds e.g. primuline and the thio-flavines. (iv) quinoline and acridine derivatives e.g. quinoline yellow and red, acridine yellow and orange. (v) leuco compounds e.g. thio-adigoid dyes. This mixture is dissolved in alcohol water or ether is ground in a mill and mixed with cellulose or resinous varnish for external use or with size for internal use. Anthracine, uranium and quinine salts may be mixed with the base. Lactic acid may be added. The paint may be used in the lighting of the landing areas of aerodromes and for advertising purposes.
