Abstract
539,063. Agglutinated fibrous materials. GANZ, G. Feb. 24, 1940, No. 31418/38. [Class 140] [Also in Group V] A fleece of fibrous cellulosic or other material is impregnated with a mixture of a natural or artificial dispersion of rubber casein, which may be in the form of skim milk which may be acidified and oil-seed flour, e.g. soya bean flour. Wetting agents, pigments, a colloid such as gelatine and vulcanizing agents may be added. The impregnated product is pressed in sheet form to form a leather substitute or floor covering or may be moulded and is vulcanized. The fleece before impregnation is treated so as to dispose the fibres in directions intersecting the length of the fleece as by using oscillating takeup members during the making of the fleece. The product may be treated before or after drying with a tannin solution. Specification 491,716 is referred to.
