Abstract
232,763. Dicker, S. G. S., (Rubber Latex Research Corporation). April 7, 1924. Fabrics composed of fibrous materials agglutinated by adhesives.-A bat of smooth, non-felting fibres such as cotton, flax, jute, woody fibres, or asbestos is impregnated during or after manufacture with rubber latex under conditions precluding coagulation, and the product is dried and may be subsequently vulcanized with or without pressure. The latex, which may be diluted with water and may contain filling or vulcanizing agents, is preferably used in such quantity that the final product contains 1-5 per cent of latex solids. The latex preparation described in Specification 236,624 is particularly suitable for use. Thorough impregnation of the individual fibres of the bat may be effected by alternate reduction and increase of pressure during the treatment. The product may be either open-textured and resilient or compact and dense according to the pressure under which it is vulcanized.
