Abstract

538,866. Carbon dioxide. REICH, G. T. Dec. 12, 1939, No. 32013. [Class 1 (ii)] In the separation of carbon dioxide from flue gases by means of an alkali carbonate solution, the gas is liberated by heating the solution containing suspended bicarbonate at a temperature not above 110‹C., only a small amount of evaporation occurring, which is in part balanced by the water liberated in the dissociation of the bicarbonate. The liquor from the absorber, containing suspended bicarbonate, may be allowed to settle, the upper part being decanted and mixed with the solution coming from the dissociator while the lower part, containing the suspended bicarbonate is returned to the dissociator.
