[Class 103 (i)] In a reversible one-way locking device according to the parent Specification the roller &c. cage 29 has a lostmotion connection with a non- rotatable part and is engaged with the abutment member 25 (providing the double-inclined surfaces with which the rollers 27, 28 co-act for the one-way locking of the elements 30, 31) by one or more spring-pressed V-teeth or equivalently, the lost-motion connection and the V-tooth engagement being timed in relation to the opposed inclines on the abutment member so as to prevent the member from remaining in an intermediate position when a temporary torque increase occurs. The lostmotion connection may be provided by a part 38 at the end of an axially-directed pin 35 projecting into a slot 39 in the base of the cage, which also carries spring detents 40 co-acting with V-teeth at the inner periphery of the abutment member 25 for causing the rollers to co-act with the inclined surfaces on the abutment member 25. The abutment member is controlled by the engagement of projecting teeth 32 with corresponding teeth 33 on a spring-pressed reaction member held against rotation, and the'reaction torque arising from reversal of the drive causes the teeth 32 to over-ride the teeth 33, the rotation being completed by the pressure of the reaction-member 34, the spring 37 of which overcomes the springs of detents 40 to allow engagement with the other sides of the co-acting teeth. The detents may be axially disposed. The roller cage may alternatively be biassed by compression springs, which are at maximum tension when at the central position so as to be then unstable.
