Abstract

537,187. Stud and slab walls; concrete slabs. COLES, G. Dec. 14, 1939, Nos. 32217/39 and 7656/40. [Classes 20 (i), 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] A temporary building is formed of pre-cast concrete units, the panels 1 having perforated inturned edges 2 whereby they may be bolted to each other and to T-section uprights 15 which are provided near their upper ends with brackets adapted to receive the ends of cross bearers for supporting the roof. The panels are also provided with inner edge recesses 5 of semi dovetail section, so that wooden fillets or slips 6 for securing lining sheets may be held in registering recesses on adjacent slabs, and also with recesses 8 and 9 on opposite horizontal edges forming drip recesses for moisture and preventing moisture passing between the joints which contain waterproof packing strips 43, The panels are further provided with recesses 10 on their vertical edges to register with corresponding recesses 10a on the studs 15 forming continuous drainage grooves leading to drainage holes in the footings 12. These footings may be provided with bearer,ends 13 to rest on foundation blocks 14 which receive the enlarged ends of the studs. The panels are connected together at the corners of the buildings by angle section studs and certain panels may contain window frames the filleting 6 being discontinued across such frames.
