Abstract
536,307. Engraving. BUTLER JONES (NAMEPLATES), Ltd., and JONES. W. R. BUTLER-. Jan. 31, 1940, No. 1919. [Class 100 (ii)] A copy holder assembly for an engraving machine comprises a disc 1 provided with circular grooves 2 and copy pieces 13 provided with a pair of pins 12, Fig. 10 (not shown), by which the piece may be held in any of the grooves. The disc 1 is rotatable on a supporting member 3 which is slidable on a base 6 fixed to the frame of the engraving machine and is locked in adjusted position by a screw 7. The disc 1 is graduated in degrees round its rim and held in angularly adjusted position by a screw 11 carried by the member 3 which also carries a pointer 9. The pieces 13 have curved edges 14, and characters of generally tapered form such as A, T, V have their edges inset as shown. A line of set-up characters is held against displacement by spring arms 17 with looped ends 19a and carried by blocks 16 which may be inserted in any convenient position in the grooves 2. A removable graduated arm 19 which may be placed in any suitable angular position is provided to facilitate finding the desired groove to receive the pieces 13. Supplementary arcuate grooved plates having grooves of greater radius than those of the plate 1 may be provided adapted to be secured to a base such as 6 to provide lines of copy pieces of a greater diameter than can be afforded by the disc 1.
