536,232. Change-speed gearing. SUHNER AKT.-GES., O. Nov. 3, 1939 No. 29337. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1938. [Class 80 (ii)] In change-speed gear comprising parallel driving and driven shafts which are movable relatively in axial and radial directions to engage selectively gears of different diameters on the shafts, at least one of the gears on each shaft can be engaged with either of two gears on the other shaft tne arrangement providing a greater number of speeds than the number of gears on each shaft. The shaft 5 of the motor 3 is provided with gears 6, 7, 8 for engaging gears 13 14, 15 on a driven shaft 12 mounted eccentrically in a sleeve 10 which is mounted in a casing 2 and can be turned and moved axially to engage the gear 6 with the gear 13 or 14. or the gear 15 with the gear 7 or 8. A spring-pin 17 provided with a knob 18 co-operates with recesses 20 to retain the sleeve in the set position. The recesses are formed in grooves 21 connected by a cross groove 22, a stop-shoulder 17a preventing the pin from being lifted out of the grooves 21. The sleeve is provided with speedindicating graduations which are set with reference to a graduation on the casing 2. In a modification the shafts 12, 5 are the driving and driven shafts. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that the motor can be displaced in the direction of its axis and parallel thereto. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
