536,204. Searchlights etc.; oxyacetylene burners; incandescing bodies. MARCZEWSKI, K. Sept. 6, 1940, No. 16381. Divided out of 11287/40. [Classes 75 (i) and 75 (iv)] A light source for use in a searchlight or other projector comprises a rod, wire or the like of carbon, copper, steel or other materials normally used for electric arc electrodes heated to incandescence by an oxy-acetylene gas jet. In the arrangement shown the oxygen and acetylene are supplied from cylinders to a jet 13 through valve controlled tubes 16, 17 so as to mix either before or at discharge and the flame impinges on a rod 20 of electrode material mounted in a holder 21 secured to a paraboloidal or other reflector 22 carried by a support 23 which may be adjusted by a screw 24 on a base 10. The rod 20 which may have a core of flamecolouring material is preferably adjusted until its tip is at the end of the inner flame cone of high brilliancy.
