Convention date, Feb, 8, [Class 80 (iii)] In cam mechanism, particularly adapted for operating fuel pumps, the width of the track or roller engaging surface 5 of the base circle of the cam is less than that of the nose or projection 6. The change-over from the narrow track to the full width is designed in accordance with the load curve of the cam. The inoperative surfaces 7 8 on both sides of the narrow portion may be surfaces of a cone or a cylinder. The cam roller is preferably of light construction as regards its moment of inertia. The object of the invention is to prevent slip between roller and cam without the use of heavy loading springs.
