[Class 110 (iii)] The blades of a multiple-row turbine have large inlet angles, greater than 90 degrees, so that the working fluid is turned through a small angle which may be of the order of 25 degrees. The inlet angles are chosen so that the ratio of the energy lost in the fluid due to its passage through the blade to the total energy extracted from the fluid during such passage is a minimum. The ratio of the blade speed to the axial component of the absolute fluid speed may be 1-3:1.
