Abstract
536,010. Winding thread. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER AKT.-GES. May 22, 1939 No. 15173. Convention date, May 23, 1938. [Class 120 (ii)] In a cop winding machine having a thread-guide carriage adapted to be propelled in a path parallel to the rotating cop and provided with lever means engaging a guide rod on a rocking shaft parallel to the winding spindle to oscillate the guide with respect to the carriage as it moves along such path, the carriage has a feeler which controls the movement of the propelling mechanism for the carriage. As shown, the bell-crank lever 33 carrying the feeler disc 34 is mounted on a pivot 32 in the thread guide carrier 25 which is guided by a rod 7 and supported by a shaft 14 which is rocked by a cam 6 through the intermediary of a crank 15 on the shaft. The shaft carries a stirrup 20 which is engaged by the bifurcated end of a crank 30 fixed to a pin 27 journaled in the carrier 25 and carrying the thread guide 29 which is oscillated above the bobbin 12 by the rocking of the shaft 14. The ends of the stirrup are adjustable in the shaft 14 so that the height of the stirrup may be adjusted to vary the traverse of the guide 29. The laterally directed arm of the lever 33 rests on the guide rod 35 carried by levers 37, 38 oscillatable about the rod 7, the lever 38 carrying an adjustable set screw 41 at one end and an adjustable counterweight 40 at the other. The set screw 41 supports an arm 43 which is reciprocated from an oscillating arm 50 and when the feeler disc 34 is moved laterally by the windings on the bobbin the set screw 41 moves down and allows a tooth on the arm 43 to engage and rotate a ratchet wheel 45 having a hub 47 around which is coiled a cable 53 connected to the carrier 25 and which is then fed forward to build the bobbin. The cable 53 passes over stationary rollers 54, 57 and carries a counterweight 58 which, at the completion of the winding and when a locking pawl is disengaged from the ratchet wheel 45, moves the carrier and thread guide to their original positions. The bobbin is supported between a driven head 2 and a counterhead 9 rotatable in a sleeve pressed forward by a spring in the bearing 8 ; a pin 13 is fixed in the sleeve and engages a slot in the bearing 8 to prevent rotation of the sleeve and to allow the counterhead 9 to be pulled back when a bobbin is to be released or inserted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the provision of a contoured rail for shaping the base and rear of the bobbin and of an adjustable set screw for varying the diameter of the wound bobbin. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
