Abstract

535,658. Two-part couplings. HERMAN, W. P. Oct. 6, 1939, No. 27317. [Class 38 (i)] A plug coupling member comprises a rubber body 10 moulded in one piece with openings 14, 16 to receive the cable end 23 and pin contacts 11. The former is divided by a tapered barrier 29 into divergent channels 15 for the separate leads 24 which are soldered to the contacts in notches 22. Whether the pins are flat or round they have flat shanks 21 shaped to form a narrow portion with shoulders 20a at each end to interlock with the openings 16. In moulding the body the lower die 26, Fig. 8, carries projections 27 with narrow portions 28 to form the openings 16 and the upper die carries a bifurcated projection 25 that forms the cable entry opening and abuts upon the portions 28.
