Abstract

535,278. Wooden pipes. MACPHERSON H. N. Feb. 13, 1940, No. 2722. [Class 99(ii)] Oval pipes are made of wood staves 1 formed with inter-engaging semi-circular tongues and grooves 5 and bound together by bands 11 spaced along the pipe. Shoulders 4 are preferably provided at each side of the tongues and grooves, and the inner shoulders of a stave are inclined at a greater angle to each other than the outer shoulders, so that the inner shoulders abut at the top and bottom parts of the pipe, which are of smaller radius, and the outer shoulders abut at the sides. The bands 11 are tightened by means of bolts 12, which are arranged at points midway between the ends of the horizontal and vertical ends of the pipe.
