Abstract

534,333. Sparking plugs. CLEVELAND, F. J. (Bendix Aviation Corporation). June 23, 1939, No. 18412. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 27, 1939.] [Class 7 (iv)] Wrappings 8, 12 insulate the casing and the central electrode from a ring 15 of aluminium or other metal of high conductivity. Above and below the ring, mica washers are packed between the head 6 of the electrode and an internal shoulder 11 in the gland or casing which may be in one or two parts. A copper sleeve 7 surrounds the central electrode. The ribbed extension 1 of the casing which forms a socket for the lead is lined with mica 16, while a stack of mica washers 17 is retained by a washer 18 and the flared end 19 of the central electrode. The sparking terminals 21 project from a ring 22 seated in, and retained by, punched-in portions of the end of the casing.
