Abstract

161,720. Hachmann, F. Jan. 22, 1920. Sparking. - plugs; external spark-gaps.-The plug comprises a casing 1, an insulator in three parts 14, 19, 22, a central electrode in two parts 15, 27 forming an external gap at X, and an electrode 11 carried by an aluminium sleeve 10 in the casing. The insulators 19, 22 are assembled together with the electrode 27 and with a nut 18 as a single unit which is held together by a nut 30 on the electrode and can be inserted or removed bodily from the casing by means of the nut 18. The aluminium sleeve 10 becomes hotter than the casing and consumes oil and promotes rapid combustion in the cylinder.
