Abstract

534,153. Coil-less resonators ; valve generating and amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Aug. 25, 1939, No. 24538. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1938. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A coil-less resonator of the coaxial cylinder type is furnished with a number of condenser plates, preferably arranged symmetrically on opposite sides of a potential node, for assooiating the resonator with one or more valves. The plates may be cylinders or discs. The invention is shown in connection with two oscillator valves connected in parallel, Fig. 4 (not shown), a pushpull oscillator and a push-pull neutralized power amplifier, Fig. 5 (not shown) and as a step-down or step-up inter-valve coupling in an amplifier, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown). In another arrangement, Fig. 6, the condenser plates which are of large diameter and are accommodated in an enlargement of the outer cylinder associate the resonator with an oscillator 43, 44, amplifier 45, 46 and valves 48, 49 acting with a modulator 17 when a switch 50 is in its right-hand position, to give frequency modulation. Amplitude modulation is provided when the switch is in its other position. Fig. 9 shows the mechanical arrangement of a resonator with the condenser plates 8, 9 and associated valves 53, 54. The plates may be adjustably mounted.
