Abstract
534,085. Dyeing synthetic polyamide materials. NICHOL, T. C., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 25, 1939, No. 24557. [Class 15 (ii)] Artificial fibres, sheets, films and the like of synthetic linear condensation super-polyamides obtained as described in Specifications 461,236 and 461,237, are dyed with anthraquinone vat dyestuffs from a vat at 85-100‹C. in which the reducing agent is a formaldehydesulphoxylate or a formaldehydehydrosulphite. In examples, (1) polyhexamethylene adipamide yarn is entered into a vat at 90‹C. containing Caledon gold orange G, caustic soda and sodium formaldehydesulphoxylate and the temperature is maintained for 45 minutes at 90-95 ‹C., whereupon the yarn is drained, rinsed acidified, again drained and rinsed, treated with a boiling soap solution, again rinsed and dried, (2) similarly dyed with Caledon jade green, (3) similarly dyed with Caledon brown R, (4) similarly dyed with Caledon blue RC, (5) similarly dyed with Caledon jade green, with the use of sodium carbonate instead of caustic soda, (6) dyed as in (1) with Caledon yellow G and with an addition of sodium bichromate to the soap solution.
