[Class 36] To provide a means for testing the insulation of a lead-in, the main conductor 12 is surrounded by a sheath 26 of conductive material, insulated therefrom, and embedded in the main insulation which may be of the condenser type with conductive layers 24 and thicker insulating layers 22. The sheath 26 extends upwards outside the insulation and has a lead 30 connected to an insulated test contact 42, which normally is maintained at the full potential of the stud 12 by a jack 46 extending from a metal cap 44. When a test is to be applied, the cap is removed and a separate lead taken from the contact 42.
