Abstract

532,694. Moulding machines; metal rollers. BIBBY & SONS, Ltd., J., and KILLIP, R. E. July 26, 1939, No. 21702. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A machine for the manufacture of cakes or pellets of moulded material, e.g. cattle cakes or poultry pellets comprises rollers in which spherically-surfaced pockets are formed in a row by drilling with rose-bits or drills of spherical shape. The pockets are preferably arranged in quincunx formation, and may be hemispherical or have a surface less than half a sphere. In order to avoid splitting of the cakes through adhesion to both rolls, grooves 5 are provided between rows of pockets 6 on one roller 7, which co-operates with fixed pointed knives 8 to lift the cakes out of 'the moulds.
