Abstract

532,146. Vehicle hoods. PEARSON, C. Aug. 18, 1939, Nos. 23801 and 27333. [Class 108 (i)] A sun screen 5 for the roof opening of a motor vehicle made of casement cloth, strong canvas, &c. is mounted on runners 6 at the sides of the opening so that it can be moved to uncover or partly uncover the roof aperture when the sliding panel 4 has been moved, as shown. The runners may be lengths of coiled spring wire stretched along the sides of the roof aperture and adapted to engage in hems in the screen which may have frills 11. The screen may be secured detachably at the front and rear of the aperture by ring and hook fastenings 9, 10. Cords 12 may be stretched between the hooks 10 across the top of the screen or between two layers of screen material, to prevent the screen from billowing outwardly. The screen may be made in two parts or divided longitudinally of the vehicle by a sliding-clasp fastener 14 to give access to the locking nut 13 of the sliding panel 4.
