[Class 20 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] Building structures, such as trench revetments, tunnel linings and conduit, sewer or other chambers above or below ground, have a framework built up of interchangeable reinforced concrete uprights, and interchangeable reinforced concrete horizontal members with a readily detachable connection.to the uprights, and interchangeable concrete slabs inserted edge to edge between the frame members with an overlapping connection with one another and with said frame members to form walls and a floor or roof or both, each of the parts being such as to be capable of erection manually. In a trench lining, uprights 10 are stepped .in the ends of floor stretchers 11 which either have rebates on their upper edges to support a floor of concrete slabs, or have on their sides grooves 12 in which a floor of concrete cast in situ may key; the uprights are similarly connected to roof beams 18, the connection preferably comprising shoulders 16 on the ends of the uprights connected by inclined faces to tongues 17, these parts engaging corresponding sockets 13 in the stretches and roof beams. Spacer bars 20 may be placed between successive stretches and have tongue and groove joints therewith. The sides of the uprights have grooves 15 to receive the ends of reinforced concrete wall slabs 24 the adjacent edges of which are rebated to give an overlapping joint ; continuation grooves 15<SP>1</SP> are provided in the roof beams, and the roof is formed of similar slabs supported on rebates in the roof beams. At the ends of a trench, intermediate uprights 10 may be provided. At a junction, angle posts 29, Figs. 2 and 3 with tongues 30 on adjacent faces, may be provided to connect two uprights, and be cunnected by modified stretches 112 and roof beams 182, or a corner post 27, Fig. 7, with grooves on adjacent faces, may replace one upright. An exit is provided by open ended box structures 31 connected by tongues and rebates and provided with a cover. Joints are sealed with bitumastic composition &c. In a modification, the walls and roof may be double, the uprights and roof beams having parallel grooves to correspond and the cavities being filled with rubble, concrete &c. Earth may be piled above the roof and a drain provided beneath the floor. Specification 520,399, [Group XXI], is referred to.
