Abstract

530,891. Screw-thread gauges. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and STOODLEY, C. W. C. July 4, 1939, No. 19499. [Class 106 (ii)] The plug gauge G is received in a holder made in two parts, the holder member proper A and the operating member B, an extension C of the holder member A having a collar D between which and a shoulder E on the member B is located a spring F. The interengaging faces of the two parts of the holder are joined respectively with ratchet teeth H and notches J which engage under the spring pressure which may be regulated by a nut L. When the gauge is inserted in the nut and the operating member turned, if resistance is met the members separate against the spring pressure. When turned in the opposite direction the teeth re-engage and a positive drive is given.
