Abstract

530,890. Jigs. WERF CONRAD N. V., and SCHOUTEN, C. June 15, 1939, No. 17557. [Class 82 (ii)] A jig of the kind in which pressure liquid is supplied to the hutch or hutches from a pressure feed line provided with an intermittently or continuously operated valve device for producing pulsations in said hutch or hutches, is characterized in that the valve is provided with a plurality of discharge ports and is so constructed and arranged that, in operation, an uninterrupted flow of liquid discharges from said pressure feed line. Water shocks due to closing of the valve are thereby avoided, as is also waste of energy in overcoming inertia of stationary liquid in restarting the feed. In Fig. 1 water under pressure is supplied by pipe 10 to the hollow space 22 of the valve 11 and as the rotor 20 turns the water passes successively through the pipes 12, 13, 14, 15 to the hutches 16, 17, 18, 19 of the four jigs. The size of the hollow space 22 is chosen so that the valve is never completely closed and water is always passing either to a hutch or to the drain. By changing the size or position of the ports the length of time that each distributing pipe is open or closed can be varied. In addition to a pressure pipe connected to each hutch there may also be a suction pipe, and the four suction pipes may be fed through a valve that is mounted on the same shaft as valve 11, or the two valves may be combined in one Instead of suction pipes being connected to the hutches, the drain to which the hutches are connected may be kept under suction.. In Figs. 3 and 4 a combined suction-and-pressure valve is shown 48 and 47 being the suction and pressure lines respectively which are connected alternately to the distributer lines 50, 51, 52, 53 by passages 57 and 56 formed in the rotor 45. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement in which four compartments are grouped as a square and connected to a distributer valve 60 by flat pipes 66, 67, 68, 69.
