Abstract
530,456. Photo-electric control circuits. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 23, 1939, No. 18378. Convention date, June 23, 1938. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVII] Two photo-electric cells 30, 31 are connected in series across a D.C. source 32 and variation in the relative currents through them is caused to vary in opposite senses the currents in a pair of control circuits 28, 29 containing grid-controlled discharge devices 37, 49 respectively. The grid 40 of the device 37 is responsive to the potential change at the junction of the photo-electric cells whereby current in this device is varied and a resistance 54 in series is arranged to vary the potential of the grid 52 of the device 49 so as to cause an opposite change in the current on that device. The operation is accelerated by a condenser-resistance combination 46, 47 in the grid circuit of the device 37. In a modification the devices 37, 39 are replaced by a double triode having a resistance in its common output circuit maintaining the total current constant as well as controlling the mutually opposite current variations in the control circuits 28, 29.
