Abstract
530,059. Draught regulators. RECOMATIC SOC. ANON. June 12, 1939, Nos. 17129 and 17130. Convention dates, June 15, 1938, and May 22, 1939. [Class 51 (i)] A draught regulator for combustion apparatus comprises a rotatable air inlet damper arranged in the wall of a flue and adapted to open under the influence of a depression in the flue, the amount of opening being controlled by an abutment member actuated by a heat sensitive element arranged within the flue. As shown in Fig. 2, the air inlet aperture 4 in the flue 1 is controlled by a damper 5 mounted on a vertical spindle 6 provided with a double-armed lever one arm 10 of which is acted on by a spring 12, the tension of which may be adjusted by a screw 13, serving to maintain the damper closed. The other arm of the lever 11 bears against a transverse member 22 which is connected by rods 19, 17 to a heat sensitive member 15 arranged within the flue 1. Flexing of the heat sensitive member 15 by variations in the temperature of 'the flue gases varies the position of the member 22 and permits the damper 5 to open more or less to admit air to the flue to check the draught: Instead of one damper only, two may be employed each controlled by the heat sensitive member. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the damper 33 controlling the air inlet to the flue 25 is mounted on a spindle slightly inclined to the vertical so that it tends to close by gravity and is provided with an arm 55 which bears against an adjustable member 52 connected to a spring 53 secured to a fixed frame. The member 52 is connected by a rod 51 to a heatsensitive member 47 arranged in the flue and carried by sliding rods 42 which may be adjusted by a screw 56. Increase of temperature in the flue causes the member 52 to move away from the arm 55 to allow the damper 33 to open and admit air to the flue.
