[Class 4] [Also in Group XXX] In order to avoid point contact between an aircraft control cable and a guide comprising a number of rollers or pulleys, a flat strip of flexible material is provided which is either inserted in the cable at the place where the change of direction takes place or is interposed between the cable and the rollers. In one form rollers c run on the edge of a central member a, being confined laterally and radially by side checks e having overhanging flanges f. A flat strip g is inserted in the control cable b or the cable b may rest upon a flat endless band surrounding the rollers c. The strip g or the endless band may be of laminated steel, phosphor bronze or brass, or a rubberized fabric strip may be used, in which case it may have a groove in its outer surface to receive the cable. In another form a roller chain may replace the rollers c, the side links of the chain serving to retain the rollers on the central member. Fig. 4 shows a further form in which flanged rollers c<1>, c<2>, one mounted between side cheeks e, additional smaller rollers c<3> being provided to support the flat strip around a smooth curve. The central member may be elliptical or kidney shaped instead of the segment 1 form shown. Specifications 519,519 and 522,829 are referred to.
