Abstract
529,261. Automatic firearms. LUNDBERG, B. O., and SCHWARZLOSE, W. A. E. May 25, 1939, No. 15587. [Class 119] The breech-block 1 of an automatic firearm is locked and unlocked by a striker-post 8 carrying a striker 9 and working in a helical slot in the breech-block, the striker-post being operated by a gas-operated driving-rod 5, through a buffer-spring 6. The pressure of the buffer-spring is transmitted to the striker-post through a sleeve 15 which, near the end of the rearward movement of the striker-post, strikes a fixed abutment 20 at the end of the receiver 16, thereby compressing the buffer-spring and effecting rapid reversal of the motion of the breech mechanism. The return of the breech mechanism is effected by a spring 19 which is disposed within the buffer-spring and the driving-rod in order to shorten the breech-block operating mechanism.
